Preaching Plagiarism?

Can you believe it? I couldn't the first time I heard someone in a local church preaching an almost identical message that I had heard from another preacher on TBN.

Sermoncentral.com is now asking preachers to sign the "Preachers Pledge" where preachers pledge that they:

•will make the Bible their primary resource in sermon preparation and preaching.

• may use other resources such as commentaries and web sites to enhance, not replace, personal interaction with Scripture. and

• As [they] study, [they] will strive to accurately understand and honestly apply God's Word, allowing Him to uniquely proclaim His truth in a relevant way through [them].

Has it really come to this? I think that some preachers get so wrapped up in keeping the flock's attention and having a new word every week, that they forget about Who is really in charge. If you really find a need to "lift" someone else's sermons - JUST BE REAL AND PLAY THE TAPE FOR THE CONGREGATION! Why be a second rate imitation - GIVE THEM THE ORIGINAL! When the congregation finds out, (and they will) you lose credibility.

Our spirit is "programmed" to recognize phony teaching! Pastors, if anyone, should know that! You must remember that God has created us to follow HIM, not the Pastor! The Pastor is a part of God's design, but by no means is a Pastor God.
