Gal to Gal Walk

Dear Gal Pals-

At last our hard work over the past 10 weeks is about to come a-live! I can't believe that I dared take this project on in such a short period of time and certainly next year we'll be able to add lots more bells and whistles, but the spirit and intent is there. It takes only 3 minutes (literally!) to log onto www.galtogalwalk.org and create your virtual walker to join this journey.

I hope you will help us reach our goal to register 1 million walkers over the next 30 days to raise funds for Stage IV breast cancer patients through our Gal to Gal Foundation. The donation is minimal - $3 (although we always gladly accept more!) - but the result will be priceless as they say! So many women (and men) who are living with and going through the most critical phase of this insidious disease will benefit from your effort.

On Monday, October 1st (the first day of breast cancer awareness month) we will begin our journey in Boston in honor of my cousin Robin (who you may know passed away at 45 after losing her brave battle to Stage IV - leaving behind a wonderful husband and a six year old daughter). Tune in to Martha Stewart that day when she features herself joining the Walk! 31 days later we cross the "finish line" on the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco in memory of Janis Armstrong - who even during the final months of her life - helped us craft the Gal to Gal Foundation's mission statement. We will walk through 29 additional cities (one each day) along the way.

Our intent is to utilize the internet as the powerful and positive tool it can be. To unite us in a way that crosses all faiths, ethnicities and belief systems. For this journey there are no "blue" or "red" states but only "PINK" ones. The fact is, as my dear friend Carrie Dederich has said - "breast cancer is an equal opportunity destroyer." Please pass this email along to all your friends, business associates or anyone you should meet on the street!! Once registered you will be able "find your friends" on the site and check in every day to watch yourself walk amongst celebrities and thousands of others. You can even create your walker on all the Design-her Gals stationery and gift products.

“Exalted!” is a ground-breaking, weekly series of one-hour biographies profiling extraordinary African-American ministers. Each week we will give audiences an up-close-and-personal glimpse into the multi-dimensional lives of one of God's chosen. We’ll follow ministers as they go back to their home towns and talk us through the trials and triumphs of their personal life journeys. We’ll also ask them to lead us back down the spiritual path that paved the way to them accepting this vital and rewarding mission. These documentaries will include interviews with ministers, select members of their staffs, friends, family and members of the congregation, along with reality footage of ministers preparing for sermons, performing ministerial duties and leading their everyday lives.

“Exalted!” paints a vivid, intimate portrait of dynamic ministerial figures who bring hope and inspiration to the masses. It will inspire those interested in understanding what it means to live a life of powerful leadership and commitment as an African-American spiritual leader.

Finally, “Exalted!” will tell the story of how each minister came to know God personally, and it will allow us to gain insight into the many spiritual, and human, lessons that have helped to shape his/her choice to follow God.

This show premieres Tuesday October 2nd on BET at 9 PM Eastern time.

Marry Your Baby Daddy Day

On September 27, 2007, 10 unmarried couples w/children will be married during the 2nd Annual Marry Your Baby Daddy Day. An all expenses paid wedding extravaganza, celebrity wedding dress designers, vendors and wedding planners are on board to make this a memorable and important moment in the lives of some very 10 fabulous, loving couples. Good morning Saints and sinners, how blessed it is to be in the presence of the Lord. I hope everyone had a good rest last night and a God filled morning, and claim victory for the rest of the day. Today's word is A Waste of Space; when will I MATTER? If you all remember back to your graduation day from high school, the first thing people ask is what's next or what are your plans for life? Some did college, some partied and some took some months which turn to years off. So now in this age you are now what have you done is this world to make a difference; if you died today would it just be a weekend funeral or a life long memorial; would people remember you for that 1 Saturday or will you be remembered for generations to come. God has put WORLD CHANGING gifts inside all of us and if we don't find out what it is we will become another robot that is programmed by the world. What business ideas has God given you, music, ministry what do you have in you that is trying to burst out. If you let it go with God first I guarantee your funeral to be a world wide event.

Jesus and Satan were having an on-going argument about who was better on the computer. They had been going at it for days, and frankly God was tired of hearing all the bickering. Finally fed up, God said, "THAT'S IT! I have had enough. I am going to set up a test that will run for two hours, and from those results, I will judge who does the better job." So Satan and Jesus sat down at the keyboards and typed away. They moused. They faxed. They e-mailed. They e-mailed with attachments. They downloaded. They did spreadsheets! They wrote reports. They created labels and cards. They created charts and graphs. They did some genealogy reports They did every job known to man. Jesus worked with heavenly efficiency and Satan was faster than hell. Then, ten minutes before their time was up, lightning suddenly flashed across the sky, thunder rolled, rain poured, and, of course, the power went off.. Satan stared at his blank screen and screamed every curse word known in the underworld. Jesus just sighed. Finally the electricity came back on, and each of them restarted their computers. Satan started searching frantically, screaming: "It's gone! It's all GONE! "I lost everything when the power went out!" Meanwhile, Jesus quietly started printing out all of his files from the past two hours of work. Satan observed this and became irate. "Wait!" he screamed. "That's not fair! He cheated! How come he has all his work and I don't have any?"

God just shrugged and said,

God is just that precise. You do not have to guess at what he tells you; you know – it is clear. Keep asking for direction, and He will give it to you. If you are uncertain, ask again.

Luke 11:5-13 (Message Translation)
5-6Then he said, "Imagine what would happen if you went to a friend in the middle of the night and said, 'Friend, lend me three loaves of bread. An old friend traveling through just showed up, and I don't have a thing on hand.'

7"The friend answers from his bed, 'Don't bother me. The door's locked; my children are all down for the night; I can't get up to give you anything.'

8"But let me tell you, even if he won't get up because he's a friend, if you stand your ground, knocking and waking all the neighbors, he'll finally get up and get you whatever you need.

9"Here's what I'm saying:

Ask and you'll get;
Seek and you'll find;
Knock and the door will open.

10-13"Don't bargain with God. Be direct. Ask for what you need. This is not a cat-and-mouse, hide-and-seek game we're in. If your little boy asks for a serving of fish, do you scare him with a live snake on his plate? If your little girl asks for an egg, do you trick her with a spider? As bad as you are, you wouldn't think of such a thing—you're at least decent to your own children. And don't you think the Father who conceived you in love will give the Holy Spirit when you ask him?"
